The Clinical Operations team is critical to this mission because our personal and professional “first touch” services help to establish patient confidence. Our reception, lab and medical assistant staff come alongside our patients from start to finish in their visit, welcoming warmly, shepherding patient flow adeptly, and offering professional support services with smooth proficiency.
The Receptionist is key to department success because their smile and greeting set the tone for the patient’s entire visit. Our Receptionists use their warm and attentive problem solving skills to put our patients at ease. Their role includes checking patients in, processing copays, and orienting patients to the care they will receive while in our offices, as well as collaborating with a broad team of staff members.
Essential Job Functions
Greet incoming patient in a friendly, professional manner and orient patients to clinic systems and flow
Check patients in, ensuring patient information is accurate in our patient database
Collect copays as needed and assist with bill payment
Effectively communicate and collaborate with team members to a create a smooth workflow and page nurses and/or medical assistants when required
Offer information and instruction as needed
Assist medical assistants in sending out prescriptions
Salem base; occasionally fill reception needs at other locations
Minimal scheduling and rescheduling
Regular, predictable, and reliable attendance is required to perform the essential duties of this position and to meet operational deadlines, maintain team coverage, and complete time-sensitive work that depends on in-person coordination and access to on-site systems/resources. Employees must report to work as scheduled, be punctual, and remain at work for assigned hours. For roles requiring coordination with patients, providers, and/or teams, consistent availability during scheduled hours is necessary to maintain safe and effective operations, continuity of work, and timely completion of job responsibilities. Employees must follow established call-out and scheduling procedures and provide timely notice of unscheduled absences when feasible. OSG will comply with applicable federal and Oregon laws regarding protected leave and reasonable accommodations.
Performs other related duties as assigned by management, for which appropriate training will be provided, to support departmental objectives and organizational success.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum 1-year medical office reception experience
Ability to manage patient flow effectively and efficiently
Excellent customer service skills
Ability to communicate in a professional manner
Ability to maintain calm demeanor while multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment
Professional dress attire
Attention to detail
Warm, professional demeanor
Competent basic math skills
Preferred Qualifications
2+ years medical office experience
Familiarity with medical terminology
Bilingual – Spanish
