Our Advanced Practice Provider team is crucial to our purpose because they drive exceptional clinical practice. They do this by understanding the community’s’ clinical needs, collaborating with our physician partners, and upholding the organization’s vision of improving patient outcomes and clinical programs.

We are currently recruiting a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our practice as an Advanced Practice Provider at our Salem, Oregon clinic.

Position Overview

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is key to Oregon Oncology Specialists’ success because they provide high-level patient care as a part of the clinical team. Under the direction of a licensed Physician, an Advanced Practice Provider provides direct patient care, including evaluating and examining new patients, managing patients who are undergoing treatment, and monitoring patients after treatment is complete.

  • Current APP’s work 4 or 5 days per week by preference
  • Work involves inpatient and outpatient services
  • Full licensed medical team and support staff

Essential Job Functions

  • Contributes to physician’s effectiveness by identifying short-term and long-range patient care issues.
  • Provides information and commentary to the care team that is pertinent to clinical deliberations.
  • Recommends options and courses of action.
  • Implements physician directives.
  • Assesses patient health by interviewing patients; performing physical examinations; obtaining, updating, and studying medical histories.
  • Instructs and counsels patients by describing treatment regimens.
  • Orders diagnostic tests, and laboratory studies; interpreting test results.
  • Prescribes and refills medications and oncology treatments.
  • Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records.
  • Rounds on patients in the hospital.
  • Performs bone marrow biopsies as trained and declared competent.
  • Manages chemotherapy and immune therapy toxicities.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Participates in advanced care planning.
  • General management of primary care issues related to hematology/oncology.

Required Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of clinical experience
  • National certification as ANP, FNP, GNP or PA-C
  • Currently active full unrestricted Oregon state (APRN or PA) license
  • Current DEA license
  • Strong technical/computer skills and EMR experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Oncology experience
