Position Overview

The Oncology Infusion RN is key to clinical success because they provide compassionate and professional direct patient care in our oncology clinic setting. This position has opportunities to make a difference in patient and family lives with the skilled education they provide. Effective collaboration with your clinical team creates a win for all.

An Oncology Infusion Nurse exemplifies proficient knowledge in the administration of cancer and hematology-related treatments, using up-to-date, evidence-based and clinically-supported safety guidelines.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Administering medications, chemotherapeutic agents, biotherapy agents, analgesics, and hematopoietic growth factors to patients with cancer following age-specific guidelines and standards
  • Assessing patient compliance with medications, treatments, and appointments
  • Demonstrating competency in the performance of simple and complex diagnostic and therapeutic procedures such as venipuncture, administration of IV fluids, and care of vascular access devices
  • Evaluating the need for prescription refills, effectiveness of medication, or medication changes.
  • Providing instructions and directions to patients and families on managing side effects related to disease process and related treatments
  • Assisting patients in achieving the maximum level of functioning by coordinating with provider team for available resources in the community such as nutritional counseling, psychosocial counseling, medical equipment, and social service support

Required Qualifications:

  • Nursing degree (Baccalaureate, Associate or Diploma) from an accredited school of nursing
  • Current RN License in State of Oregon
  • Basic Life Support certification within 2 months of hire
  • Current proficiency in IV access of all types
  • Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) within 12 months of hire
  • Must be fully vaccinated (exceptions considered on a case-by-case basis in compliance with applicable law)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two years recent RN experience in a patient care setting
  • One-year experience in an inpatient or outpatient oncology clinical setting
  • BSN preferred
  • Current knowledge of chemotherapeutic agents, administration, side effects management and patient learning needs
  • Current OCN
  • Chemotherapy and Biotherapy certified
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system
  • Bilingual preferred
