At Oregon Specialty Group, we take care of people.  The Medical Scheduling department is crucial to this mission because we work to ensure patients are accurately scheduled for treatment as well as office visits. We do this by monitoring the providers orders, identifying patient information, verifying all processes have been completed for timely scheduling, as well as working with other facilities to ensure that all orders from the provider are complete to allow for accurate treatment.

The Scheduling team plays an essential role in patient care and is key to organizational success. As a medical scheduler you will get the opportunity to advance your knowledge in the world of Oncology and Hematology. This is done through a vast increase in your knowledge and understanding of the prior authorizations, financial counseling, and clinical practice processes. Medical Schedulers gain the opportunity to coordinate the care for patients that have a variety of different diagnosis that range from blood disorders to complex cancer diagnosis. The Medical Schedulers are very important to the organization as they are responsible for every appointment that is seen in any of our 5 locations.

Essential Job Functions

  • Via telephone, assists patients in coordinating treatment and appointments according to orders from the provider. This can include office visits, treatments, labs, and imaging with an emphasis on complete care coordination scheduling.
  • Assists patients in scheduling office visits, treatments and scans according to orders from provider.
  • Schedules orders in queue in a timely manner
  • Maintains scheduling queue
  • Completes other scheduling duties as assigned
  • Effectively communicates with and works with team members to ensure a smooth workflow
  • Maintains appointment reminder phone system.
  • Cross trains in other areas such as but not limited to, Prior Authorization.
  • Effectively communicates and works with team members to ensure a smooth workflow.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least 2 years previous experience in a medical office setting including experience scheduling, electronic medical records and practice management systems.
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to maintain organization while multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to assist other team members as needed
  • Understanding of HIPAA
  • Ability to communicate in a professional manner with patients
  • Ability to answer calls efficiently and return calls in a timely manner
  • Familiarity with fax and copy machines
  • Attention to detail
  • Excel

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual- Spanish
  • Oncology clinic experience
  • Hematology clinic experience
