Position Overview

The Admixture team is crucial to this mission because we support our treatment team, enabling them to work at their highest level directly with our patients.  In helping them, we fuel the mission of extending great care to our patients while supporting  our colleagues.  

The Admix Technician is a key collaborator with our clinical care team, using his/her excellence and timeliness in the technical, nonjudgmental aspects of medication preparation to help keep patient care prompt and effective.  In addition, the Admix Tech assists with medication inventory management and supplies to assure that medications are readily available. 

Prior experience in the Admix setting is not required, but a valid Pharmacy Technician certificate will provide a valuable foundation to build on.  This is a great opportunity for on-the-job training and personal growth within an established practice. 

Essential Job Functions

  • Prepare medication orders by admixing medications under supervision of physician.
  • Accurately prepare and label sterile hazardous and non-hazardous products within OSHA guidelines and following clinic policies.
  • Ensure appropriate requirement processes and documentation are complete in a timely manner.
  • Assists with required cleaning and maintenance of the admix area to reduce particle counts and improve overall sanitation.
  • Establish and maintain par levels of chemotherapy, medication, and supply inventory.
  • Review infusion schedules in collaboration with the Charge Nurse to identify diagnosis trends impacting medication and chemotherapy procurement and inventory management.
  • Prepare regular chemotherapy, medication, and supply orders to ensure stock will meet the demands of operation.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One or more years of college or completion of a para-professional pharmacy training program
  • Retail or other physician dispensing outlet experience
  • Pharmacy Technician certificate required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrable proficiency in I.V. admixture, inventory management, and dispensing preferred
  • Oncology background preferred
