At Oregon Specialty Group, we take care of people. The Clinical Operations team is critical to this mission because our personal and professional “first touch” services help to establish patient confidence. Our reception, lab and medical assistant staff come alongside our patients from start to finish in their visit, welcoming warmly, shepherding patient flow adeptly, and offering professional support services with smooth proficiency.
The Receptionist is key to department success because their smile and greeting set the tone for the patient’s entire visit. Our Receptionists use their warm and attentive problem solving skills to put our patients at ease. Their role includes checking patients in, processing copays, and orienting patients to the care they will receive while in our offices, as well as collaborating with a broad team of staff members. The position is full-time. The hours are 8:30am-5pm with a 30 minute lunch.
Essential Job Functions
- Maintaining Confidentiality: Ensure that patient information is kept confidential and secure, following HIPAA regulations and clinic policies related to patient privacy.
- Handling Sensitive Information: Be sensitive to the emotional needs of oncology patients and handle any difficult conversations or information requests with empathy and discretion.
- Greet incoming patient in a friendly, professional manner
- Check patients in, ensuring patient information is accurate in our patient database
- Collect copays as needed
- Orient patients to clinic systems and flow
- Effectively communicate and collaborate with team members to a create a smooth workflow
- Offer information and instruction as needed
- Page nurses when required
- Assist with bill payment
- Salem base; occasionally fill reception needs at other locations (Silverton, Woodburn and McMinnville)
- Complete other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 1-year medical office reception experience
- Ability to manage patient flow effectively and efficiently
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to communicate in a professional manner
- Ability to maintain calm demeanor while multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment
- Professional dress attire
- Attention to detail
- Warm, professional demeanor
- Competent basic math skills
Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years medical office experience
- Familiarity with medical terminology
- Bilingual – Spanish
