Position Overview
At Oregon Specialty Group, we take care of people. The Medical Scheduling department is crucial to this mission because we work to ensure patients are accurately scheduled for treatment as well as office visits. We do this by monitoring the providers’ orders, identifying patient information, verifying all processes have been completed for timely scheduling, as well as working with other facilities to ensure that all orders from the provider are complete to allow for accurate treatment.
The Scheduling team plays an essential role in patient care and is key to organizational success. As a medical scheduler you will get the opportunity to advance your knowledge in the world of Oncology and Hematology. This is done through a vast increase in your knowledge and the understanding of clinical practice processes. Medical Schedulers gain the opportunity to coordinate the care for patients that have a variety of different diagnosis that range from blood disorders to complex cancer diagnosis. The Medical Scheduler will work closely with patients, physicians, and nurses to ensure that all necessary requirements are met before, during, and after the scheduling process. This is a full-time position. The hours are Monday-Friday 8:30am-5pm with a 30-minute lunch.
Essential Job Functions
- Via telephone and/or in person, assists patients in coordinating treatment and appointments according to orders from the provider. This can include office visits, treatments, labs, and imaging with an emphasis on complete care coordination scheduling
- Maintains professionalism and empathy when interacting with patients and managing confidential information
- Efficiently schedules and maintains orders in the queue
- Effectively communicates and works with team members to ensure a smooth workflow
- Answers and returns calls efficiently and in a timely manner
- Cross trains in other scheduling specialties
- Completes other scheduling duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least 2 years previous experience in a medical office setting including medical scheduling, electronic medical records and practice management systems
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to stay organized while multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to maintain a positive, patient-centered approach in all interactions
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong sense of responsibility and accountability
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingual – Spanish
- Oncology and Hematology clinic experience
- 3+ years of medical scheduling
