The Infectious Disease Infusion Nurse provides compassionate and professional direct patient care in our clinic setting. An Infusion Nurse exemplifies proficient knowledge in the administration of treatments, using up-to-date, evidence-based and clinically-supported safety guidelines.

This full-time position requires 4 nine-hour shifts per week, with a varying schedule and 1 weekend shift per month.

Essential Job Functions

  • Perform assessments and health histories
  • Administer medications 
  • Assess patient compliance with medications, treatments, and appointments
  • Demonstrate competency in the performance of simple and complex diagnostic and therapeutic procedures such as venipuncture, administration of IV fluids, and care of vascular access devices
  • Coordinate care, in collaboration with a wide array of healthcare professionals
  • Direct and supervise care delivered by other health care professionals such as medical assistants
  • Delegation to Medical Assistants
  • Vital signs
  • Peripheral blood draw
  • SQ/IM injectable medications
  • PICC dressing changes
  • Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations
  • Documents patient care in chart
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
  • Providing instructions and directions to patients and families on managing side effects related to disease process and related treatments
  • Assisting patients in achieving the maximum level of functioning by coordinating with provider team for available resources in the community such as nutritional counseling, psychosocial counseling, medical equipment, and social service support

Required Qualifications

  • Registered RN
  • Basic Life Support certification (or ability to obtain upon hire)
  • Current proficiency in IV access of all types
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system
  • Must be fully vaccinated (exceptions considered on a case-by-case basis in compliance with applicable law)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two years recent RN experience in a patient care setting
  • One-year experience in an inpatient or outpatient oncology clinical setting
  • BSN preferred
  • Current knowledge of chemotherapeutic agents, administration, side effects management and patient learning needs
  • Current OCN
  • Chemotherapy and Biotherapy certified
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system
  • Bilingual preferred
